| ClassicalClassical Archives - This website has a wealth of excellent classical MIDI files. You can download up to five MIDI files daily for free, or become a member for $5.99 per month to get up to one hundred free MIDI files per day. This opening MIDI page has a quick list of composers you can select from, or you can enter your search query in the "Search" box at the top of the page. The Classical MIDI Connection - This is an extensive collection of classical MIDI sequences, with contributors noted after each filename. Don't let the unglamorous look of the front page turn you away. This MIDI file site is good! To get started, choose one of the musical style "Libraries" on the left side of the page (Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, etc.) That will take you to a list of composers for the selected musical style. When you find the song you want to download, simply click (or right-click) the filename and save it to your designated directory. By the way, we like how this web site acknowledges the contributions of some excellent, prolific MIDI file authors. Classical Piano MIDI Page - This "must visit" site for pianists, by Bernd Krueger, has an extensive list of classical piano repertoire pieces with excellent MIDI sequencing. Classical Musical MIDI Page - This site by Reginald Steven Ritchie organizes MIDI files by composer, and includes biographical information on each composer. There are high quality orchestral pieces here, as well as solo instrumental works. Kunst der Fuge - This site provides an extensive collection of classical MIDI files, sequenced by many contributors. It is well organized with an alphabetical index of composers, along with pages dedicated to particular styles and time periods. It also contains many informational aspects, such as biographies of composers and an explanation of fugue theory. To download a song file, simply right-click on the link, and save the file to the directory you desire. Classical Guitar MIDI Archives - This huge collection of MIDI files for guitar owned by Francois Faucher offers "2222 MIDI files from 135 composers". New MIDI sequences are added twice a week; original submissions of high quality are welcomed. This site exists primarily to showcase pieces written for the classical guitar (solo and ensemble), but also has well-known arrangement and transcriptions. The site includes information on the creation of MIDI files and a tutorial on the tablature system. There are original pieces here by Mr. Faucher, the site owner. Classical MIDI Files by David Siu - Some nicely done sequences, with some lesser known composers, all sequenced by Gary Goldberg and remapped for GM format by David Siu. The files are arranged alphabetically by composer on the opening page, and are easily downloaded by right-clicking your mouse. John's MIDI Files - John Merchant has sequenced a small collection of MIDI files for a few big name composers from the Baroque to Romantic periods. The Classical Page at MidiWorld - This web page offers a directory of MIDI files, organized by composer. To download a file, right-click on the filename and save it to your designated directory. Dave's J. S. Bach Page - Most of these files have been entered by hand rather than by recording. The MIDI file author states that he has tried to remain faithful to the original printed scores. There are no dynamics or other interpretation upon playback. These might be good MIDI files for trying out the MIDI performance and annotation editing features of Notation Composer. Classical Music Symposium Midi Composers Orchestra - A small but varied collection of works by about ten best-known classical composers. If you find a problem with a website that I have linked to, I would appreciate your letting me know at webmaster@beanfieldcastle.net This directory was originally hosted by Notation Software, Inc., which has since transferred ownership to Notation Software Germany. |
