| TraditionalNational Anthems - This wonderful site by Mark Fromm has the national anthem of all 193 nations in the world, as well as 35 nonsovereign countries. It also has each country's flag and the words of the anthems in the native language and English! Most of the anthems are provided as MIDI files, but a few are in other sound formats instead. Stephen Foster ABC Fakebook - This collection of Foster songs has .mid and other formats available. Click on the "midi" link next to the song title to download the MIDI file. Rose's Patriotic Page - Patriotic Songs of the United States, with traditional as well as original arrangements. The songs are listed in alphabetical order, with some songs have more than one arrangement. Right-click the song title to download the .mid file. Public Domain Music - Begun in 1998, Public Domain Music now features over 2000 MIDI files, with text file of their lyrics, of 19th century America popular music with emphasis on the works of 15 composers, including the complete works of Stephen C. Foster and Henry Clay Work, as well as music of the Civil War, hymns, spirituals, minstrel songs, ragtime piano music, blues, folk songs, and pre-1923 music. Parlor Songs - Popular Sheet Music from the 1800s to the 1920s - You can cruise around using either the search engine or the alphabetical listings to find particular songs and download the corresponding MIDI files. They have beautiful sheet music cover reproductions, as well as lyrics and midi files for songs that are now in the public domain. Early American Music from the 1900's through the 1920's - You can either search for the music you're looking for, or you can click on a month on their calendar to see what the song selections were for that month. With folk songs arranged by time period." Scroll down the page to find a list of the songs (categorized by century), and click the link. On each tune's page, there are lyrics and information about the song, as well as a "Download MIDI file" button. The Great Canadian Tunebook - Barry Taylor's Canadian Tunebook site has MIDI files available for download as single songs (selecting one takes you to a page with the lyrics, and the MIDI for download), or the whole lot for single download as a zip file. The Rocker Box - A very nicely done collection of United States traditional "States" songs and a few Canadian traditional tunes as well. The Cats Whiskers Barn Dance Band - The band's website hosts a number of resources for dancers, callers, and musicians. Specifically for MIDI files, you can click the "Midi" link to access their MIDI files of a variety of dance tunes, most of which are single-melody lines. These are great for whistle, fiddle, or other solo instruments. Please note that all links in this directory (except the Samples and some Bass Practice files) go to other websites.
