| OperaThe Aria Database MIDI Index - This site owned by Robert Glaubitz offers a wealth of MIDI files from operas. The collection is arranged alphabetically by the title of the opera. Click on the work MIDI following the title to download the file. Carmina Burana - More appropriately a cantata, nonetheless these MIDI files of Orff's work are well-done by Bot Productions. Find the entire work as a .zip file near the top of the page, or scroll down for individual songs. Italian Opera - This site contains selections from operas written by a variety of Italian composers. To reach the MIDI files, click the "MIDI,MP3" option at the top of the index page. There you will find the composers grouped according to century. Clicking on a composer's name will take you to a page where one to several of that composer's works are offered. Roll over the different titles to find the .mid files. Oper "in nuce" - This website in German and English by Heinz Kern has a variety of operatic "in a nutshell" pieces which he has sequenced for piano. These pieces are some shorter pieces as well as medleys of favorite tunes from the opera, thus "in a nutshell". The initial page has the composers listed alphabetically, with the available pieces listed to the right of the composer. Click on the composer's name to go to the composer's page. Then click the name of the work that you would like to download. This link will take you to a page with the particular MIDI file available. Then, download the file by clicking the "-->download" link. The files are in .zip format, so you will need to unzip them for listening, or let Notation automatically unzip and open them for you. For those who are familiar with world class pianists, you will have fun trying to decipher the whimsical anagrammatic names of various performing pianists at the top of each of these separate MIDI file pages. Please note that all links in this directory (except the Samples and some Bass Practice files) go to other websites. While I try to make sure that these are safe sites, I cannot guarantee them.
