There are a large number of MIDI files to download, including tuning sequences so that you can play along with your computer in tune and a beginner's play-along page with easier transcriptions. Practice Recorder - "This website will assist students in the practice and enjoyment of the soprano recorder. Although constructed for the use of beginning students, it may be useful to anyone beginning recorder especially those with basic music reading skills." Double Bass MIDIs - In the middle of this page by Edgar Huckert you will find a small, but well done collection of play along MIDI files for the double bass player. Clarinet, Saxophone and Oboe - Another page with well-done files sequenced by Edgar Huckert for these reed instruments. The Cats Whiskers Barn Dance Band - The band's website hosts a number of resources for dancers, callers, and musicians. Specifically for MIDI files, you can click the "Midi" link to access their MIDI files of a variety of dance tunes, most of which are single-melody lines. These are great for whistle, fiddle, or other solo instruments. Trumpet MIDI Files - The MIDI files presented here by TrumpetStudio are trumpet solos or ensembles. They are fun for all of us to listen to, as well as being useful for trumpet students. David Bellugi's Recorder MIDIs - This site, owned by David Bellugi, offers a number of MIDI files of interest to the recorder player. Pease read Mr. Bellugi's note at the top of the page about the different types of files which he has sequenced. Virtual Listening and Practice MIDI Files for Recorders - This large collection of MIDI files for recorders has been compiled by Nicholas S. Lander. The files are arranged alphabetically by composer; the Music Minus One files for practice are located near the bottom of the page. Kasuga's Flute MIDIs - A collection of flute solos with varying accompaniment and flute ensembles are offered here. Click on the number in the left-hand column to download the file; the instrumental composition of the ensemble is indicated in the right-hand column. Suzuki Violin Pieces - This page owned by Don Hicks has compositions from Book 1 of the Suzuki violin instruction method for students to play along with. There are some works that have the melody line included and some that have only the accompaniment. Follow the link at the bottom of the page to Mr. Fiddle's home page to see more MIDI files. MIDI Files for Violinists - This page on The Violin Site has a concertos, trios, and sonatas for violin by a variety of composers. The files are arranged alphabetically by composer in the chart. To download a particular MIDI file, simply click the name of the piece. Simple Gifts (for Mandolin) - These simple MIDI file arrangements by Elizabeth T. Knuth, and accompanying tablature, are for mandolin players; but the arrangements can be used for other instruments. Click the "MIDI" link next to a song name. You then might see the mandolin tablature. Scroll down past the tablature and look for the MIDI file link preceded by the words "If you like, you can hear a...". Fiddle Tunes from the American Revolution - "A collection of fiddle tunes from the American Revolution period in MIDI music format. This collection features minuets, country dances, marches and airs, and song tunes from the personal notebook of a certain Captain George Bush, an officer in George Washington's army. Below are 54 individual MIDI file renditions of these fiddle tunes for your listening pleasure. This collection of Colonial music comes from an actual book entitled "Fiddle Tunes From The American Revolution" which contains the actual sheet music of which these songs were transcribed from." Simply click on the song title to download the MIDI file. MIDI Accompaniments for easy cello pieces - Accompaniment files for early cello studies. These are arranged by difficulty, with practice notes alongside the name of the piece. Click on the title of the piece to download the MIDI file. You can use Notation Musician or Composer to adjust the tempo or set up practice loops as you play along with these files. MIDI Drum files - Rob Goodwin has put together some great drum files that can be used as a foundation for your own songs (you can use Notation Composer to create your own songs). Many are available as free immediate downloads, or sign up for the email installments for more files.
