Classical Piano Midi Page - This "must visit" site for pianists is owned by Bernd Krueger. He has an extensive list of classical piano repertoire pieces with excellent MIDI sequencing. The homepage contains an alphabetical listing of composers. By clicking on the composer's name, you will go to the page with that composer's available works.

The Audition Room at The Piano Education Page - "While the MIDI sequences don't always do full justice to the same pieces played on an acoustic piano, we hope that you'll like them enough to want to play them yourself... " The files are categorized by composer, and are easily downloaded by right-clicking the filename, and then choosing to save the file.

Ragtime Piano MIDI Files - This website, owned by Warren Trachtman, has a good selection of ragtime pieces by various composers.

Schubert's Most Famous Works - This selection of Schubert works has been prepared by Kristofer Andreasson. There are a few wave (.wav) files mixed in with the MIDI (.mid) files, so be sure to check which you are choosing. [The complete file name is displayed at the bottom of your screen when you position your cursor on the name of the musical work.]

Music for Pianos - This regularly updated site has hundreds of MIDI files for piano sequenced by Eric Halstead. Some of the arrangements are for more than one piano. The site is well organized; to search for a specific work, click on a style of music at the top of the page, or on a specific composer's name in the list on the left side of the page. Before leaving this site, be sure to sign up for the monthly newsletter that notifies you of new additions to the site and contains articles of interest to piano enthusiasts.

Parlor Songs - Popular Sheet Music from the 1800s to the 1920s - You can cruise around using either the search engine or the alphabetical listings to find particular songs and download the corresponding MIDI files. They have beautiful sheet music cover reproductions, as well as lyrics and midi files for songs that are now in the public domain.

Early American Music from the 1900's through the 1920's - You can either search for the music you're looking for, or you can click on a month on their calendar to see what the song selections were for that month. They also have beautiful sheet music cover reproductions, as well as lyrics and midi files for songs that are now in the public domain.

Golden Oldies Piano MIDI - A smaller collection of oldies songs, all done featuring the piano. Credits are listed next to the song titles, which are in alphabetical order. Click the song title to download the MIDI file.

A Johann Sebastian Bach Midi Page - This extensive site by Bryen Travis has a wonderful collection of Bach pieces. The files are all listed on this one page, and are easily downloaded by right clicking on the title.

Public Domain Music - Begun in 1998, Public Domain Music now features over 2000 MIDI files, with text file of their lyrics, of 19th century America popular music with emphasis on the works of 15 composers, including the complete works of Stephen C. Foster and Henry Clay Work, as well as music of the Civil War, hymns, spirituals, minstrel songs, ragtime piano music, blues, folk songs, and pre-1923 music.

Oper "in nuce" - This website in German and English by Heinz Kern has a variety of operatic "in a nutshell" pieces which he has sequenced for piano. These pieces are some shorter pieces as well as medleys of favorite tunes from the opera, thus "in a nutshell". The initial page has the composers listed alphabetically, with the available pieces listed to the right of the composer. Click on the composer's name to go to the composer's page. Then click the name of the work that you would like to download. This link will take you to a page with the particular MIDI file available. Then, download the file by clicking the "-->download" link. The files are in .zip format, so you will need to unzip them for listening, or let Notation automatically unzip and open them for you. For those who are familiar with world class pianists, you will have fun trying to decipher the whimsical anagrammatic names of various performing pianists at the top of each of these separate MIDI file pages.

Scanned Piano Rolls

The following websites offer MIDI files from scanned player piano rolls. They can make for some very nice listening. Some of the files have also been "karaoke-d", so that you can see the lyrics for "sing alongs." Also, if you're using Notation Composer, you can use the Rebar feature, along with other score tools, to get some playable sheet music as well.
